Rabies

I work on Chimneys and was on a chimney with a metal wire on top a racoon was in the chimney. I cut myself on the metal which did not appear to be touched by the animal. Is there a chance i have rabies? I was reading that rabies cannot live outside the host for but a few seconds but the Racoon had been in there for a while and had not left in a day or so.

You have to be bit by a rabid raccoon, or contact its fluids direct to some open source wound on your body.

Best go to a Doctor and check yourself out and have him examine your situation.

A cut from the steel wire can give you tetanitus.
