Rabies

i was bit by a pitbull that escaped from her yard while separating her and my dog. the owner told me she had her rabies shots even though she had no tags. she was not exibiting signs of rabies like foaming at the mouth or being aggressive towards her owner. could i still get rabies if the dog is not symptomatic? does the dog have to be put down to determine infection or is there a simple blood test that can be performed? it has been about a week since the incident. my finger was very swallen for a couple of days, bit now it's fine except for the scar.
