Can a puppy have rabies before it has been vaccinated?

Post a new topicby jbartocci on Thu Feb 05, 2009 11:48 pm

I was bitten by my 15 week old Airedale puppy today. Although he has shown mild signs of aggression in the past, he hasn't growled or nipped in fear or anger in two weeks. This morning he appeared not to recognize us and was crying this high pitched howl/growl. Is it possible for a dog this age to have rabies or some other neurological disorder that would cause this?

Hi I am Daveyo

Please take your dog quickly to the VET and have it checked for Distemper first and you can get your answer in 30 minutes. Here is the procedure to do the test and its quite simple and 100% accurate.

The very best test for rapidly diagnosing ACUTE distemper is to do what is called a brush border smear of the cells of the inside lining of the bladder. These cells ALWAYS have inclusions. So, easy to collect, easy to stain (quick dip) and instantly diagnosed with inclusions in these cells which are carmine red and para nuclear.

Any medical person can tell you how to get cells from the bladder. Urinary catheter. Empty bladder flush with saline and collect some of the last saline. Spin down the saline and remove the cells. Place on slide and dry stain with diff-quick. Very common stain used by most medics or lab people who use medical microscopy. Everyone? I should hope so. Very fast, very cheap, very accurate for Dx of distemper. If present then Distemper. If negative then either kennel cough or respiratory Herpes or Toxoplasmosis.

Next if confirmed then Distemper, if not, then have it checked for Rabies.

In order to get Rabies it has to get bitten by a Rabid animal. Was this dog bitten???? Yes or no.

If yes then you need to check it for Rabies infection. If this animal has not had a Rabies vaccination shot, and it has Rabies, it is fatal and you must put to sleep. Nothing can cure this dog at all. If it had previous Rabies vaccination shot and gets Rabies, yes it can be taken care off due to the immune snapshot, and the procedure is different. They can find out about Rabies doing a test within 24 hours.

If no, then the odds are it is having Canine Distemper more likely neurological phase. Check the stools of the animal, are they soupy, is the dog having mucous in the nose and eyes, if so this is clinical proof of the disease. Also hardening of the pads as well.

In the meantime keep a very close eye on this dog until it gets to the VET. OK. Use caution until then.

Now Distemper will do this to the animal and it will run around or go into the walls or doors or chairs etc. If this is what you see, this is the first indicative sign of Neurological Distemper and you can save your animal both in the body and in the CNS of which there is a certified authentic medical protocol now out. The cure is Newcastles Disease Virus Vaccine.

The body procedure is different than the CNS-CSF tap procedure. Both procedures use NDV and the cure is 24 hours. The virus is eliminated and gone, and you need to give the dog time to recover. Also check for Pneumonia if confirmed Distemper from that test. OK. If so confirmed, then you need to treat for Pneumonia with Baytril and Penicillin G both together for 7 days twice a day . Baytril is 0.5cc and Penicillin G is 1.0cc.

So please post back here and let me know the official status of the VETS finding.

Keep me posted
