stray kitten

I found a cute kitten that looked starved at my barn. I had to go to Mom’s and couldn’t leave it, so I brought it with me. We fed it many times with a small bottle and kitten replacer milk. While holding it, it started to bite the towel we had it in while feeding, then bite the bottle, then bite my mom. After getting it off of her, within a minute, the kitten died. We sent the dead kitten to get tested for rabies and we are still waiting for results.

My suggestion is t start the shots immediately. If the healthcare people didn't suggest this they are VERY wrong. The sooner you start the shots the better chance you have to not get rabies You must go to the ER and start asap. The shots don't hurt - it's the quick timing factor that is crucial. GO!!!!!

I agree with skunkbitgitte. You should not wait for the results, the postexposure vaccine for rabies is most effective when administered as soon as possible after an animal bite.
