Eddison

Post a new topicby dodlbug on Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:44 pm

I got a kitten from a litter my sister's cat had. I brought him to my house as soon as he was weened. For the first couple of weeks I also had two of his sisters at my house. I kept them in the bathroom with a litter box and food and water dishes. The two girls went to other homes and Eddison was allowed to wander the house after they left since I didn't see any bathroom issues.
I have another cat, Thomas, who is eight years old. At first they didn't get along, but they have gotten use to one another and play. If anything, Thomas gets attacked by Eddison whenever he turns his back. I have noticed lately Thomas has taken to growling at Eddison more when he gets too close. I don't really blame him...Eddison attacks him all the time!
I have two litter boxes, one upstairs across the hall from my bedroom and one in the alcove between my kitchen and basement. I have no problem with Thomas. Eddison is now 12 weeks old and uses the litter box when I'm up and about, but at night the little pill gets lazy and pees on my bedding while I'm asleep. It's a real nasty wake-up call to find a wet spot at your feet when the alarm goes off.
He was also peeing on my couch cushions, but I have since broke him of that bad habit when he squatted right in front of my one day. I still haven't quite got the smell out. I am getting really tired of washing my bedding every two days, especially now since it's colder and I have more blankets. Since he's doing this at night while I'm asleep I can't catch him in the act like I did with the couch.
I have read it may be an issue with the softness of the places where he's bad and a rug around the litter box may cure him. I have also read he may need a nightlight to find the litterbox. My God, it's only ten feet away and it's fine to use during the day!
Thomas used to sleep with me when Eddison wasn't in the picture. Now, Thomas won't stay on the bed at night. When I get into bed I can usually find him laying on the floor in the doorway to my room. Eddison, on the other hand, won't stay off the bed. He has the annoying habit of wanting to lick my face, bite the end of my nose, and suck on my earlobes when I'm trying to go to sleep. I drop Eddison off the side of my bed when I've finally had enough and he climbs back up and starts all over again. I would like both my cats to sleep with me if they behave, but between Thomas growling and Eddison creating puddles while I sleep, I'm about to give up and go back to a one cat house.
I have gone to putting Eddison back in the bathroom while I'm at work or asleep because of his piddle problem. Anyone else have any ideas?
