Advice

Post a new topicby GKmom on Wed Oct 10, 2007 4:09 pm

Baby will be arriving within the next 2-3 weeks. We have let the dogs participate in getting the baby's room ready. We read up and did other things like --- Used lotion that baby will use so the dogs get accustomed to the smell, let the dogs smell freshly laundered hand-me-down baby clothes and put up a swing, and and left the stroller out for the past two months. So there isn't lots of "new" stuff that arrives when baby does. So... we feel we've done well with that. What we don't really know much about is how to do the first introduction. Any advice?

It seems like you're taking all the right steps. When the new baby arrives, someone else should hold the baby while the pet is introduced. Make sure the pet is calmed down before the introduction.

In case you didn't see it, there is some good information on this site about introducing a pet to a new baby. Here is the link:

Congratulations!
