Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus Syndrome

I had a 2.5 yr old german shepherd who died to today of GDV. He was fine yesterday and this morning his stomach was the size of a basketball. He was just lying on the floor with labored breathing.
We had no idea that he was dying until we loaded him into the car when he died on the way without even a wimper. He was my best friend, my shadow, my buddy. This is an awful killer that does not give any warning.
To all those who have lost a friend; my heart goes out to you.
