We rushed our standard poodle, Lexie, to the emergency vet at 2:00 a.m. The vet knew in 5 minutes she had GDV. You know its serious when they said do the surgery or euthanize the dog. Of course, the surgery, no matter what the cost, was our choice.

Hoping for the best
Re: Hoping for the bestPlease provide an update on the status of your best friend. We too, are in the same situation with our 9 1/2 year old English Mastiff. He had surgery Sunday night and remains in intensive care but with each hour, seems to be improving. This is one of the most heart-wrenching things I've ever had to go through. The feeling of helplessness is overwhelming. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
