Our beloved Bear (half chow and half German Shepard) passed away this Sunday morning from a twisted stomach. Something we knew nothing about. I thought I would share this story as it may help prevent fatalities to other dogs and save a family from a lot of sorrow.
Bear started what they call “retching” (vomiting with nothing coming up) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. We weren’t concerned as he’s done this before. However at 11:30 p.m. we found him outside and when we called hi...Read the full article

We lost our Great Dane "General" July 26th 2008 from Bloat. I swear reading your story was like reliving that day. The only difference for us was that General waited on me to sit beside and hold him before he finally let himself go. He was definately a Momma's Boy. Only 2 days has gone by since he left us and I struggle every second to hold back the tears. Turney Family

I would love to see a picture of Bear. Last night, I had to make the hardest decision of my life. My chow-shepherd mix, George, started having classic GDV symptoms. After reading about it, I've determined that his was mostly due to age, weight loss and his new eating habit of swallowing his food before chewing it. We made the decision to not have surgery. George was nearly 17 years old...which is so unheard of, especially in larger dogs. If you would like to email me directly, I'd apprecitate it: [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]
