Ear mite problems

Post a new topicby tamonster on Sun Sep 09, 2007 2:25 pm

Our cat recently got ear mites from a neighbor cat. Then brought them home to our dog. Both of their ears were driving them crazy. So we bought PetGold Mite-X ear remedy. It seems to be working very well for our dog. But our cat is still scratching and appears to be in great discomfort. He also is laying his ears down flat on his head. I couldn't find any informtion on how long it takes to kill the mites. He's been inside away from other cats and we've applied solution according to the directions. But he is miserable. I was hoping to for some advice, should we discontinue the mite-x or is this reaction normal? Any input would be great.

If you see the cat shaking its head lots you can expect to see swelling in the exterior part of the ear. You don't want it to come to this because the ear will separate on the inside and it's hard to get it jo grow back together because of cont'd shaking. The stitches will fall out over again and again.
