Questions about my cat with Feline LeukemiaHi, I just signed up and I've got questions about my cat. I've had her for about 10 years now. I got her and 2 others when they were just kittens. It was a happy time but it turned to tragedy when 1 got very sick and died. We found out that he had feline leukemia They tested 1 other cat and he tested positive but I believe they did not test the other cat still as it was very likely she had leukemia as well. The one that died was male and the others were 1 male and 1 female. The remaining male cat(Jake) lived for atleast 3 or 4 more years until my father noticed the cat was acting strange and he had him put down so the cat wouldn't suffer like the other male cat did. All that was then left was the female cat(Salem). We weren't sure how long she would live but it's been 10 years and she's still alive. We haven't taken her to the vet in a long time and I'm wondering if there are certain signs she would be exhibiting if she actually had feline leukemia She eats quite regularly and pukes it up quite a bit. Anyway, I've been reading about feline leukemia and I'm curious if it's possible that the disease somehow went away or that she never had it even though her brothers did(they came from the same litter). I mean, if she had it she would've died by now right? Or has she lived so long because she may be a carrier?
Re: Questions about my cat with Feline LeukemiaHi, I just signed up myself. I have a feline leukemia positive male, three year old cat. It is possible that your cat does not have the disease or she is just a carrier. If she did have it, she most likely would never had made it this long. Would be good to have her checked out by a vet.
