Question regarding exposure.

Post a new topicby angieb3 on Sun Jan 04, 2009 9:25 pm

My cat is 4, today we were at a house with him & found out that there is a cat living there with feline leukemia Our cat had a vaccine 1 1/2 years ago, but I did not get his booster, I am late. The cat with flv was in a room with the door partially closed. The only contact our cat had was when he was in his carrier, we had to walk past the room to leave the house. Our cat was loose inside the home, but the flv cat is never loose in there. I am so worried, what do I do?

If your cat is 4 yrs. old and you only had him in the same room with the flv positive cat
he should be fine.... He could only contract the disease if he ate or drank after the other cat
or,, if they rubbed noses... Even then,,, if you gave your cat the shot earlier,,
he should be fine.... We always have to really know our pets,,, and if they start acting out of character - not eating, drinking, going to the pot,,, or acting lifeless... then we should take them
to the vet... But,,, like I said,,, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I agree with the other reply, your cat should be fine. If you have any questions, call your vet. Rose
