Feline Leukemia

Post a new topicby big_orange_kitty on Sat Oct 20, 2007 10:49 am

Can you help me? My daughter had a cat that recently died due to Feline Leukemia I was told that it is very common for new cats brought into the home to contact this. I have a young kitty that is my gandsons and he wants to take it home soon. Is this kitty apt to contact Leukemia? This kitty and the deceased cat have had no contact. Would the new kitty be safe to go into that home? Please help me know what to do.

You are supposed to wait 30 days and totally disinfect your house with bleach before bringing in a new kitty. Our 7 mon old kitten has just had her first viremic episode, so I'm reading everything! Good luck

Make sure the other kitten is vaccinated first,,, then destroy all the dishes, litter box and any and all toys that the infected cat had in its mouth... and don't forget any beds or blankets.
