We had four beautiful, loving cats in our family. There was Ducky (tabby), Charlie (Norwegon forest cat), Ozzy (mix), and Stuppy (Siamese,Calico). We loved them with all our hearts. Spoiled rotten! All of our cats are rescue cats, and Ducky was new to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss.
We are currently experiencing the same situation. I have a 4 & 10 year old, we decided it was time to bring another catkid into our family. The new little one interacted with ours for 4 days until we took her to the vet to find out she tested FeLV+ it was a double blow....our new little one was sick and we'd possibly infected our older two.
We immedicately took our two in for testing and vaccinations but will not know for certain for at least 6 months if they test positive. I don't know what I will do if they turn out positive, handling that amount of guilt is overwhelming.
We have the new little one quarantined in a spare room until I can find a new home for her which is proving to be almost impossible. It's hard enough to find a home for a healthy cat and once people here Leukemia they immediately say no, without knowing anything about this disease.
