Take your cat in for a blood transfusion and the cat will live longer. Leukemia kills the red blood cells, so by giving a transfusion would make the killer have to start over. Cats do not feel any pain until the very last few days. This is because one by one, organs start shutting down because of the red blood cell loss. After getting the transfusion, your cat will get around 1 to 3yrs longer. You can do this everytime your vet tells you the cell count is not good.

Sorry about your cat, but, the best option would not be die at home. I am not saying put it right to sleep. You should have check-ups done and when the vet says time is up, that is the time to put the animal down. Put the cat to sleep. Dieing at home will be very painful for the animal. Only put it down if you cannot afford a few thousand dollors every couple of years.

Sorry about your cat.
