Mogli and MaryHello,
I almost missed your post because it was attached to an older post. If you will go in and open "post a new topic" your information will be listed so that people can respond to you. I did send you two responses but you may have to search for them. I hope all is going well for you. I know how scarey this is and I know how hard you are looking for answers. You may want to read my post titles Simple facts about FIP Let me know how you are doing. Good luck and lots of love to you and your sweet kitty. Barbara
Re: Mogli and MaryOUR MOGLEY PASSED AWAY CHRISTMAS MORNING AND WE ARE JUST SO SAD AND I NEED TO KNOW IF HIS GETTING FIP WAS IN ANYWAY OUR FAULT. COULD WE HAVE DONE SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY WITH HIM SO THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. I FEEL SO GUILTY, HE WAS THE SWEETEST BOY! THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. MARY
Re: Mogli and MaryMary,
Please don't feel guilty. FIP is to be blamed, you did nothing wrong. If FIP was that easy to prevent we would all cheer and not look back, unfortunately FIP is very capricious and can hit everyone. Mogli is at peace now, happy and healthy again, playing with the other angel kitties. He will watch over you until you meet again. May I remind everyone that you can support FIP research through the Bria fund, dedicated to FIP research. I encouraged researchers to conduct more research and several proposals for funding have been submitted to the Bria fund. So please make sure there is enough money available to fund these studies by donating to the Bria fund. Awards will be granted in February so please don't wait too long as it would be a shame if some studies can not be supported by lack of funds: [moderator note: website address has been removed] Alone we can do little, together we can so much. Hello everyone, I am pleased to tell you that Winn has received several proposals for FIP research for our February 2008 grant review meeting. In fact, there are more FIP proposals in this grant round than I remember seeing in any recent year. The proposals have come from 6 institutions around the world - a very exciting thing to see! I hope most or all of these proposals will be worthwhile, for Winn will only spend money on projects that pass our review panel. We will need all the donations we can get for the Bria Fund before Dec. 31 (our deadline for Feb. 2008 projects) in order to fund every worthwhile proposal received. For information on the Bria Fund, see: [moderator note: website address has been removed] For information on how to donate, see: [moderator note: website address has been removed] Don't forget you can make a donation to the Veterinary Honor Roll to honor your veterinarian and direct the donation to the Bria Fund. For more information on Winn's Veterinary Honor Roll, see: [moderator note: website address has been removed] Help us fund FIP research by donating to the Bria Fund before Dec. 31! I am on many (too many) Internet lists....One is even quite literally for the birds. However, this is by far the most important to me personally...in some ways most uplifting and in others most heartbreaking. As Dr. Susan Little recently posted - we have (finally) what appears to be increased interest from researchers willing and able to conduct FIP research! Fact is much of what is said here - on this list - is NOT fact, but speculation. Would be nice if we knew more facts about FIP for starters. And yes, obviously, coming closer to a reliable treatment and one day even a cure. This can and will all happen. For some time, those of us at Winn (and other funding organizations) have been attempting to get researchers interested in FIP I want to thank this list, and particularly some individuals (you know who you are) for also making this a reality. We could have all the dollars for funding in the world, but if no one is willing to step up and do the work - then the money doesn't matter. Well, we are increasingly seeing researchers interested in FIP. Now, comes the money part. And I have an idea - truth is, the money money we have - the more research Winn can fund. For those in the U.S., we can make tax deductable donations for 2007 through Dec. 31. How about honoring your vet? Make a contribution to Winn, earmark those dollars for the Bria Fund for FIP research. Your vet (or a veterinarian of your choosing) receives a beautiful plaque for his/her exam room or office and recognition. You receive the tax write off in time for 2007. And Winn receives dollars (which do add up). You can also make the contribution in the name of a kitty we lost in 2007. Sadly, there seem to more with each year. Or a kitty you lost to FIP many years ago can be honored. I will and have given each year for our cat Ringo - until there's a treatment or cure. Most of all, I want to remember Bria. By creating the Bria fund, Susan Gingrich has focused awareness on FIP. I hope Susan is very proud of what she's done, and continues to do....And the same for those on this list who continue to help people through this devastating disease... The Winn Feline Foundation is now at a place to help - but we need your help to do this. Thank you - Steve Dale Board member, Winn Feline Foundation [moderator note: website address has been removed]

Marleen, thank you for all your efforts to reach out to FIP researchers, encouraging them to apply to the Bria Fund. Thank you also to everyone who donated or will donate to the Bria Fund. It is my utmost prayer and desire that 2008 be the year that leads to significant findings related to FIP prevention and treatment. Happy New Year to all of you, your families, and fur babies everywhere! Susan
Re: Mogli and MaryThanks Marleen we did find the site and made a donation in Mogley's memory. Hope they get their funding. You have been so kind. Mary
Re: Mogli and MaryThat is very kind and generous Mary. Please check the site in February for the announcement of the FIP research grant awards.
Kind regards, Marleen
