I was fortunate to find two beautiful white rescue kittens (siblings)…a boy and a girl who I immediately loved. I named them Sophie and Sylvester and they bravely moved 1000 miles away from my hometown with me after only being with me for 1 month. They endured the 22 hour car-ride with cries and naps. They were my family in a new state; as I adapted we spent many evenings together. They played and grew and I loved them both.
Two years later I bought a house with my fiancee. Sylvester hat...Read the full article

Re: SophieI am so sorry for your loss. Your story sounds very similar to mine. I'm also a teacher and got very busy before the holidays and even though I noticed something was different with my cat Buster, I just thought maybe he was maturing, but he has dry FIP and I know I have to put him down soon. I was feeling guilty and blaming myself for this, but I don't think that's right anymore. If I'd known Buster was sick sooner, I think it would have been harder on both of us, because I would have smothered him and been overanxious about everything he did. This way, except for these last few days, he's had a more normal and natural life and was more free to do what he wanted instead of countless trips to the vet and weeks of worrying about new symptoms and how to deal with these new symptoms. I don't think you can blame yourself for introducing a new cat into the family either. There's a good chance that Sophie was already carrying the virus when you got her. It's impossible to know if Sebastian's arrival had anything to do with her developing the disease. I'm sure she had a good home with you and felt loved.
