My TiggerI adopted Tigger from the Humane Society 2 years ago because my kitten Yankee seemed lonely and didn’t enjoy playing with himself. Tigger came to me very sick with an upper respitory infection and I took him to the vet immediately. I got him antibiotics and it cleared up in a matter of 2 weeks and he finally began to eat.

Re: My TiggerHello Ashley,
I am so very sorry to hear about Tiger. After going through FIP with my little kitty Captain I hope my advice will help you. Talk with your Vet and make sure that all other illness is ruled out before accepting the FIP diagnosis. Because FIP has so many symptoms of other illnesses it is very hard to diagnose. Learn everything you can about FIP but be very careful about what you read on the internet. For example Vets today are questioning if FIP is as "highly contagious" as had previously been thought. Also, if you have other kitties they may test positive for the FIP virus but my not get sick for years if ever. Last, some kitties live for many months after being diagnosed with FIP and end up not being very sick and not have any associated pain. Love Tiger for as long as you can and remember that thanks to you your Tiger had many wonderful weeks and months and was very loved and cared for. You did a very brave thing by bringing Tiger into your life and you are a very special person for doing so. Just think of all the joy and all of the wonderful memories that will stay with you because of this special little kitty named Tiger. Barbara
