We lost our beloved Molly on Oct 2 to FIP We adopted her as an adult cat almost 4 years ago, along with her we also got a kitten named Chee Chee. Molly was always a thin cat but not skinny, Cheechee is now a big cat at 14 lbs. On Oct 1st Molly was lethargeic [lethargic] and we rushed her to the vet. Hello Karen,

I am so sorry to hear about your Molly. Please do not give up on your other kitty. From my understanding most Vets today do not believe FIP is actually contagious. In all actuality most cats, if tested will show positive for FIP. I learned through our ordeal with our beloved Captain that FIP can only be truly diagnosed with a biopsy. Because FIP has the same symptoms as many other conditions and illnesses it is extremely difficult to daignose. We have four other wonderful and healthy cats in our home and do not expect any of them to develope FIP but because they were all rescue cats would indeed probably show positive for FIP if tested. Be very careful of what you read on the internet about FIP and talk with your Vet. I hope this helps.

Thank you Barbara!
Chee chee is showing no signs of any symptoms and I know that she may be a carrier. I have been truly upset by some of the things I have read on the internet so your advice is very good. Thanx again
