I first adopted BB in Oct. of 2006. I had just recently taken in another kitten that my mom had convinced me to take named muffin in Sept of 2006. I already had two older cats and although they tolerated muffin, they were not very playful and she was lonely, so I went to the shelter and adopted BB so they could grow up together. BB was originaly named butterball by the shelter. He is the cutest little orange stripped kitty. He is also one of the most loving kittens I have. He would sleep on...Read the full article

My little Peanut was 3 years old, and passed away last week. he was exposed to an outdoor kitty, and shortly after he fell ill. he began vomiting and not wanting to eat. sometimes i was able to spoon-feed him. the vet did x-rays and blood tests on him and found nothing. i thought there was an obstruction in his digestive system, as he was passing foam pieces. he appeared to improved because he started eating better and playing. well, although he was losing wieght, his belly appeared bloated. i took him to the vet again, who hospitalized him and performed surgery. he did find an obstruction, along with a lot of abdominal fluid. the vet sent the fluid in for testing over thanksgiving, and is pretty sure that was part of what hurt my baby. it is like losing a child, isn't it? and the only one i can blame is myself. if i had him hospitalized earlier, me may have had the foam removed and had enough strength to fight off the FIP
i'm sure i know how you feel, though. just helpless and wondering why this is happening to your little one. its such a devastating illness. Peanut was also very loving and playful. i had him since he was a kitten. he loved the sunshine and to play with his buddy, my other cat. now my other cat is heartbroken and lonely. i am trying to write to make you feel better, but this is so fresh on my mind. just know you did the best you could for BB and he is so blessed to have you to look after him. someone else might not have cared as much as you. thank God you took him to the vet early so you know what's going on and can be a little prepared. i will pray for you.

Hello Lyndy,

I am so sorry about BB and know how much pain you are going through. It sounds as though you gave BB more love during the short time you had him than he had ever had. You were so kind to have sought him out to begin with. I am happy to have read that you know it was nothing you did and it sounds as though you did all of the right things for BB. You are a very special person to have allowed BB into your life and BB loved his very special person. Don't give up on your origional intention and as soon as you are ready go back and find another sweet kitty to fill that empty space in your heart.
Thank you for your story asw I will keep your memories of BB in my heart.
Barbara
