FIV+ cat now has tumor

Post a new topicby nynut on Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:41 pm

My cat who has been FIV+ his whole life, now 12 years old, has a large tumor in his intestine. The vet wants to operate to get the tumor out. What are the odds of him making it through this? The vet says 50/50. Is it worse to operate on an older cat with FIV as opposed to a normal cat? I have to make a decision.

Hi

No one can say one way or the other. It all depends on how good the VET is, and how healthy the cat is and its genetics and ability to recover. If you get that tumor out, make sure you have it tested for possible cancer.

good luck
