Can my cat contract FIV by .... ?

Post a new topicby Alobar on Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:00 am

I was waiting in my vets office, with one other person ahead of me, a mother and son. As the mother was telling me that her cat's parent had FIV and her cat tested positive for anti-bodies but doesn't have the desease, HER SON STICKS HIS FINGERS INTO HIS CATS CARRIER, PLAYS WITH HIS CAT, AND THEN STICKS HIS FINGERS INTO MY CATS CARRIER TO PLAY WITH MINE.

Can my cat be infected by that contact? I'm concerned about him touching his cats nose and then my cats nose and transmitting the desease that way. I'm really bugging out over this. I love my cat and her brother and of course if one was infected, I'm sure it would spread to both. I couldn't beleive it. The boy was young and meant no harm, but I take my cats health seriously and I'm freaking out over this.

Thanks,
