red spot in nose, sneezing and rubbing nose

Post a new topicby 1KITTY on Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:39 am

My cat has had all his vaccinations. A couple of months ago, he had an upper respiratory infection, which was misdiagnosed. THe antibiotics given to him did hom absolutely no good. The Dr. finally got a nasal culture, which showed that my cat had a different kind of upper respiratory infection, but the symptoms were the same.
After the Dr. put my cat on Zenequin, he got better quickly.
For the past several days, my cat has been having sneezing fits and has a blood red spot on the inside of his left nostril. He's eating well, though.
What can this be? Feline Herpes virus? Another respiratory infection?
There is goes again, sneezing like crazy, but no mucus and his eyes are not watery.
Anyone's cat ever had these symptoms?
Thanks....

I got a cat from the humane society 10 days ago. The day I brought him home, he had been neutered. I now know this depressed his immune system, and the next day he was sneezing and sleepy, then started oozing from his eyes and nose. I took him to my vet. After a week, they decided it was herpes. I've spent a thousand dollars on vet bills and medications. They have had to tube feed him and give him fluids subcutaneously. Day 10, and he is a little better. He actually ate something on his own today. I'm worried that he will be prone to upper respiratory infections now. His nose bleeds, but I'm hoping this will go away. How is your cat doing?

My BK is doing well and still has a little growth in his nose. Vet didn't know what it was, but at least it's not blood red any more. He still snorts and sneezes occasionally. I wonder if he has an allergy? Otherwise he is very healthy. Spends the majority of his time outside. My neighbors feed him when I'm gone. I'm so blessed to have him!!
Hoping your cat gets better, Elsie!
