Hi Dodie:
If Feline Herpes Virus is involved with your kitties, take heart it can be controlled. They will always have the disease but symptoms can be cotrolled. During periods of flare-ups the cats should be given 1000 mg of Lysine. The Lysine stops viral replication. During non-flare-ups they should get 500 mg/day per cat. it is quite common for FHV cats to get secondary bacterial infections in which case you will need antibiotics (arythomycin is used by many owners with FHV kitties).
