on set of behavior change

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Sep 25, 2005 11:24 am

My cat Murphy will not eat drink and is lathargic. He was fine one day and overnight has become sick. He has been like this for three days now. I have been trying to force drops of water in him. He just lays in one spot and doesn't seem to want to do anything
What to do? Can't afford a vet

Part of being a pet owner is going to the vet if your cat or dog is sick or injured. No one online can tell you what might be wrong, and no vet monitors this site any longer.

Bite the bullet and go to the vet. They are used to people who might not be able to pay all at once, and some will work with you. Advice? Don't mention you can't pay until AFTER they see your cat. This is devious, but realistically if you call first and say you don't have money, they will in all likelihood tell you they can't see you at all.
If they have already provided the care, they will be pissed perhaps, but will usually take post dated checks or hold your checks or work with you in some other way.

Or you can try your local humane society. Sometimes they provide discounted care. There are also veterinary pet insurance companies, but if your cat has a problem now you can't wait.

Animal ERs are also used to people who can't pay right away, and have a credit application right on the spot, usually. There is also something called CareCredit (www.carecredit.com) where you can apply for credit for vet bills.

One way or another, your cat must see a vet or you are being negligent and your cat is paying the price with his life.
