kitten with temp and distended stomach

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jan 08, 2006 3:30 pm

My 6 month old kitten Murphy has been lethargic, and weak this past week. His abdomen is swollen as well. He's run a low grade temp, 104 degrees. The vet put him on Amoxicillin for temp and metronidazole for his stomach. he also gave him fluids. He's getting weaker and his stomach is even more swollen now. I am VERY very worried, I have to leave the country for 3 weeks and he'll be here alone woth 4 other cats. Help, singsong80

You can't leave a kitten as sick as this alone with 4 other cats for 3 weeks and expect to find him alive when you come back.

If you must go, board the kitten AT THE VETS and give them instructions as to what you will and will not do so far as treatment or testing. This could be very, very serious. If your kitten is at the vet, they will be able to observe him closely and give him immediate treatment if he gets sicker. I hope you have returned to the vet since you have posted this.

You can't leave a sick cat alone for 3 weeks. That is neglect. You must do something. I hope everything has turned out ok since you posted.

Don't want to be the bearer of bad tidings, but sounds like it could be feline infectious pertonitis, which is very serious. Not much can be done for it.
