Cat with Diarrhea

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:32 pm

We picked up a Kittem from a Florida Cat Adoptions Group with Diarrhea which they said would go away. They had tested her, found COCCIDIA and were treating her with ALBON. They tested her before we adopted her and the test was negative. We have had her now for over 6 weeks and she still has the Diahrea. We have had her go through a series exams with our vet called fecal floation exams with no sign of parasites but the vets have administered 1) Zithramax and Terramycin for URI 2)Drontal Plus for Diahrea, 4)Metronidazole for Diarrhea and 5) Injected Pred, to no avail. She is a healthy eater, 5 months old today, bright eyed and energetic. We have changed her food from dried to canned to see if that would help. She eats 2 cans per day.

Any ideas?

I had a cat a few years back with a problem like that - ended up taking him to a holistic vet, who gave him Omega-3 & Omega-6 oils that you can put in their food, also a chlorophyll food supplement, and some other natural supplements as well. Sorry to be so vague, but this has been about 4 years ago & the cat is fine now, weighs 16 pounds & doesn't have diarrhea anymore. Any holistic vets in your area?

I have a similiar problem.. i think
Modem is a year old went and got him cut 12 days and not only does he have diarrhea but he has also been doing it EVERYWHERE! beds, tables, floor, counter-tops, I mean everywhere! At first we (my wife and I) thought thta it was just the round worms that we were told about when we picked him from being snipped. Gave him the meds for that for two days then decided to take him to our vet. He said that he thought that he may have "feline Inflamatory Bowel Disease". At the time we had him on Amoxicillian so Doc told us to keep him on it. 3 days go by with zero improvment. Took him back today and we still dont really know what it is. I asked if he could be allergic to the amox doc said yes so he gave us something else that i cant pronounce, but its something like Amforce. He also noticed some leasions on the sides of his tongue and said that he thought he might have FIV or Feline Leukemia. I dont know what he has but I want my modem to get better. I am tired of taking him to the vets only to learn they dont know, I am also tired of batheing him to get all off the poop off....
any thoughts welcome
