11yr old golden has CCL rupture

Post a new topicby shawnag on Fri Apr 03, 2009 10:35 pm

My 11 year old golden retriever has a ruptured ligament and the vet is recommending surgery. I am concerned about his age and if surgery would be beneficial to him. At this point he has no arithitis or hip problems but I am just wondering if their are alternatives to surgery due to his age. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if the new stem cell therapy would be right for your Senior Golden but you can google it and read about it........... at 11, I too would be worried about anesthesia - although they use the fast under and fast awake pediatric type....... nothing wrong with going for a second opinion or going to a SPECIALIST. In this day and age you must be proactive in your pets healthcare the same way you would your own. Good luck.
