Yes, he's a Great Dane, and yes he's 145 lbs. But he's only 18 months old. Perfect Hips, negative Drawer and Thrust tests, as well as negative tests for flexion and extension of the hocks. Only symptom in ortho exam, was elicited by hyperextension of the knee. He's been on restricted activity for the last 7 weeks, and this will continue for the next 6 weeks. I've had him on 1500 mg. Glucosamine, 2000 mg. Ester C, Sea Mussell , Omega 3 supplements, and he's had the "loading dose" of Adequan injections. Now I'm introducing Oral Hylaronic Acid, and Cetyl M and will continue with the Maintenance injections of Adequan on intervals of 2-3 weeks. I thought I was having an MRI yesterday, but the Vet in Maine was hard-sell for surgery, so she took TPLO radiographs and did a knee tap of the synovial fluid, which confirmed only mild arthritic changes. After $1000.00 She "suspects" degenerative changes to the CCL I've heard that an ultra sound or MRI is the only way to diagnose the condition of the CCL Has anyone had a similar experience????
