Hi everyone help with beagle post ccl

Post a new topicby bubbs on Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:25 pm

Im new to this site and would be very grateful for some advice on cruciate ligament surgery for dogs!
My beagle had surgery 11 days ago on her leg intrascapsular and is still holding leg up,I am very worried
she should be at least toe touching I thought. Her hock seems very floppy with no strength is this normal?
There has been no weight bearing on leg at all..Very worried and concerned that her leg is damaged even more
after surgery than before.
any advice and help will be greatly appreciated.

First you must have patience, and secondly what is the current condition of your dog now??

Glad to see I'm not the only one....our Lab mix had surgery once and removed all her own stitches including the internal ones after six weeks. Had to have surgery redone.. now two weeks into second surgery she is the same as your beagle holding leg up and not putting much weight on it.. I am hoping that this is because during the second surgery everything was pulled much tighter...hope to know more in two days when we return to the vet.

Hi

There are newer techniques now for this situation and there has been revisions made regarding when surgery is needed. You can find this at my site at caninedistempercure dot com and it is under the cruciate title.

Feel free to check it out
