FOLKS, just wanted to alert you to the new strain of Parvovirus. It is extremely very deadly and I am now been directed to find some solutions to this strain.
Please read on how deadly this one really is. It will KILL THE ANIMAL INSIDE OF 8 HOURS. YOU ONLY HAVE A WINDOW OF 1 HOUR TO GIVE YOUR DOG IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY TREATMENT. AFTER THAT WELL THE DOGS EXPIRE. NO CURE AT THE MOMENT, AND THAT IS WHAT I AM WORKING ON AT THIS TIME.
HERE IT IS:>>>>>>>>> N E W P A R V O F S T R A I N
What to look for and the progression of Disease from time of onset:
1. Notice not drinking - acts normal, playing but rests more often - probably not eating
2. May or may not see a temperature rise - 103 to 104 degree F
3. At this point dog does not eat
4. Temperature goes up to 106 or 107 degrees F
5. Rapid weight loss and can lose all in 3 hours
6. Lethargic - lays around, dehydration continues - at this point the dog will DIE in less than 24 hours -
unless it is detected in the first stage (not drinking and low grade temperature)
You will have only a matter of a few hours to diagnose and start treatment. It can be detected by a vet taking a fresh stool sample with a long probe. A blood test is needed to confirm F strain. Still appears gelatin-like with a little blood, but not usually diarrhea. Unlike regular PARVO, this new F strain affects the large intestines instead of the small intestines. Vomiting is normal with bile and foaming/drooling at the mouth may occur. When onset is confirmed, dog usually DIES in less than 8 hours - longest confirmed case lived just under 24 hours.
Maximum amount of time recorded is 15 days from contact to DEATH. Affecting puppies , juniors and older dogs. No cure - no known cause, but appears to possibly be airborne. The only thing that helps is SULFAMETHOXAZOLE TRIMETHOPRIM (bactrin D F in human medications). dosage is 2cc per puppy under 10 pounds (even newborns) followed by equal amounts of water or electrolytes. Adults 18 to 25 pounds get 7cc followed by at least equal fluids.
This therapy may keep the animal alive long enough for an immune response. If they survive a complete recovery can be expected. This appears to be the 7th mutation of PARVO virus (similar to a person having AIDS and E Coli at the same time) and affecting small to medium breeds. No known cases at the moment in large breeds. Incubation time 4 to 10 days the dog can have virus up to 5 days, before you see first symptoms. Death can occur in 24 hours after first sign of Disease. Strongly recommend no movement of dogs in or out of kennel or house etc., until 30 days have passed since last dog either recovered or died.
Apparently this has been brought to USA from Europe. If you think you have this PLEASE CONTACT YOUR NEAREST VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!
