Puppy does not want to eat!!!She came home 10/02/09 from the shelter after the spray surgery, a beautifull German Shephard Mix aprox 2 months old with the vacines the same day. She didn't want to eat that night and we thought it was due to the vacines and the surgery. Next morning she ate and around noon she vomit. Since then will been trying to feed her with different kind of food, she does not want anything. Eating aroung 10 fl of food at day. We went to the vet on 10/09/09, labs with elevated WBC, negative for paracites, but she gave me Panacur and Albon. Yesterday 10/11/09, no food at all but she is drinking, never playing but had diarrhea X3. Today she is eating and drinking no diarrhea but I call the vet anyway due to the feeding. A new vet saw my puppy did the Parvo test that was negative and sugested that she may have Distemper that she need to be hospitalized IV fluids, meds, antibiotics and Xray to r/o pneumonia total aprox of $900.00. plus a blood test to see if her defenses "was up" after the vacine but that test was not to confirm that she has it. All this because she saw the puppy snezzing at the table. Do you think she has Distemper? We live in Miami, FL, there is any vet who can perform the test that I was reading in previous post (bladder)? Please, let me know. Thanks.
Re: Puppy does not want to eat!!!Hi Shela
Came across your thread here. First of all that VET your dealing with is a no brainer, and secondly they are defintely mikling you of your money. I am Daveyo, and one of the experts of this disease called distemper. You need to go to my site ASAP and register there and I can help you a lot and find out what is wrong with your Shepard. My site is at caninedistempercure dot com and from there we can make contact. To check for Distemper (and I don't think your VET knows how to do this, but there is a client of mine that lives in Miami, and he can steer you in the right direction if confirmed as I already have saved his dog from this disease and its doing quite well. But you can get that report from him direct. Here is the test: The most reliable test to confirm distemper, the person needs to do a Brush Border slide/smear of the bladder transitional epithelium of the inside lining from the bladder. Stain with Dif-Quick. These cells ALWAYS have inclusions. So, easy to collect, easy to stain (quick dip) and instantly diagnosed with inclusions in these cells which will stain a beautiful carmine red color and be para nuclear in the cytoplasm of infected cells. About 90% of the bladder cells will be positive for inclusions in the early stages of distemper. This is good for at least the first 21 days from onset of the disease. After this point, it gets harder to detect as the disease progresses further in the stages and the physical clinical signs will become quite obvious. Any Qualified medical person can tell you how to get these cells from the bladder. Use the Urinary catheter. Empty the bladder and flush this with saline and collect some of the last saline. Spin down the saline and remove the cells. Place on slide and dry stain with diff-quick. A Very common stain used by most medics or lab people who use medical microscopy. Everyone? I should hope so. Very fast, very cheap, very accurate for Dx of distemper and the results can be seen in about 30 minutes. Rarely inclusions can be seen in the red cells. I have never seen inclusions in the conjunctiva. An IFA test of the conjunctiva to test for inclusions is available. Don’t wait for test results to come back. Time is of the essence. Wait for the test results after treating!!!!!. If wrong no adverse reactions if right you are ahead of the game for stopping the distemper virus. If NEGATIVE> then either kennel cough or respiratory Herpes or Toxoplasmosis. This test can all be done inside the VET Clinic with no problems and also no danger to anyone in or out of the same area. A very relative safe technique. To date, this test has never failed for us and is extremely very accurate and saves time in making the right diagnosis. All the things that vet wants to do is like going into a boat and fishing out in the lake and hoping he got it right. Just reading of what he is doing my eyes were rolling backwards and was quite disgusted overall. The above test does not cost you both arms and both legs. Save your money and I can steer you in the right direction to keep all your expenses down and have that dog treated properly and get it well. Its amazing that the Vet gives vaccinations and then does surgery and that shelter allowed such to be done. How unreal can they get today. You never give vaccinations to any animal especially before or after surgery. First your dog does not need to be hospitalized. That is their money making generating system. Secondly Distemper can be treated quite quickly and your dog can be cured in 24 hours, and the pneumonia which always accompanies Distemper can be cured in 7 days. If the disease enters the CNS that also can be cured in 24 hours. This is a two step process one for the body and one for the CNS. Thirdly the only time you will need any small amounts of IV is for the CSF tap when such is performed. Just seeing a puppy sneezing on the table then giving you a $1,000 dollar diagnosis definitely tells me that the VET is a bonifide loser. If I was there it would have lost its license to practice any further. Many VETS do not like me because of their incompetence and lack of skills and woeful education especially on diseases and the simple fact that I can close their doors rather quickly. The excuses I get from these VETS would make any person wonder out loud on how they ever got their license in the first place. Listen I am here to help you, to steer you properly and not trying to come hard on you at all, or trying to scare you. My site is a authenticated medical site and we do have impressive confirmed records of over 700 dogs cured of Distemper. The person who is the Emeritus himself is Dr. Alson W. Sears. DVM, and he is the one who knows this disease forwards and backwards, and came up with many genuine authentic cures for several other diseases and even discovered a Serum that cures Distemper. He has an incredible background that will even put many smarts to shame. I worked along with him and thru him I initiated the first world wide cure of Distemper in the CNS outside of a lab back in November of 2007. Today it is quite successful. Anyway if you need any further help feel free to contact me at my site and do that test as I gave you above which will definitely save you a lot of heartbreaks and nonsense and keeping some 100 dollar bills in your pocket. The Test above should not cost you more than 50 dollars. That is the visit, the test and the use of some equipment and the vets time and final diagnosis 30 minutes later. If the VET does not know how to do that then hit the phone books and start doing some calling or you can go to Atlanta which is the nearest Expert that is qualified because that Dr. is a neurosurgeon and does the CSF taps as well. He can do the test for you, and if confirmed he can treat the body quickly as he has the cures in stock and he can also do the CSF tap if necessary. I do not have to worry about him because he is darn good of what he does. I have VET locators on my site that I can trust to do the job correctly. good luck Daveyo The above test will either confirm or tell you otherwise.
