Need adviceHello. We adopted a year old puppy who had been rescued from Mexico. She was reported to have recovered from two bouts of pneumonia caused by distemper She has a severe twitch in her hind quarters - a chronic bounce, and weakness in her hind legs. The vet said she'd never seen such a severe neurological remnant of distemper. She also suffered from a tick disease and an unset broken leg . . . Today she has suffered three seizures, within a span of 4 hours. The on call vet tells me that this is encephilitis, a consequence of the distemper and that it's fatal. Has any one else had any experience with this? Thank you, Ruth
Re: Need adviceYes I have and had 3 dogs with it. I did the CSF tap with Newcastles Disease Virus back in October last year and they are alive and doing fine and now it is January 2008. If I did not do this CSF tap, my 3 dogs would have been dead back in October. I have the clinical proof to back this up. Besides many others were saved as well. Once you do this DO NOT VACCINATE THE DOG ANY FURTHER. ESPECIALLY PARVO.
Be advised that only a qualified license VET can do this proceedure so you have to discuss this with them and I already posted the instructions under Canine Distemper - peer to peer under the topic For Any Confirm Cases Of Distemper. It is all there. All I can do is provide you the steps and instructions, and the rest is soley between you and your VET. This site does not want the responsibility for anything regarding medical protocols and they want you to understand their disclaimer to protect themselves. So when you do this it is your responsibility and the responsibility of the VET who is qualified and licensed to do such procedure. Do not attempt to do any of this yourself. You and your VET must have a clear and precise understanding of what is involved and only your VET can perform this procedure. Since your dogs started the seizures you must see your VET quickly and hopefully do this CSF tap ASAP. Most dogs will expire within 7-14 days once this begins without the CSF tap being done.
