Hi Cendra,

I think you're in luck! I'll give you some links (one of which is Daveyo's site who is in Indonesia). He should be able to give you a vet referral. You will probably want to contact Dr. Sears as well. He originated the treatment with NDV and is usually willing to speak vet-to-vet if needed. In the meantime, print out the instructions he has on his site for the process in the "For Vets" section and in-depth explanation of the science, and give or fax it to your vet right away. Daveyo also has this information on his site that you can print out as well.

My dog, Carmella was suspected of having the disease for at least 20 days before she received even the body portion of the treatment, and then it took about 2 1/2 more months for me to find a vet to do the neuro part of the treatment, and it did stop any further disease-progression. She is left with some jerking which may or may not resolve (there are not enough treated cases yet to have that kind of data. She's the first here in the US to have both parts of the treatment).

Dr. Sears has recently started his own website and has updated the process slightly from previous versions. You can print out the instructions (found under the section "For Vets") and bring or fax them to your vet.

Daveyo's site is at:

And here's another new site on Facebook just recently started by Ed Bond to organize people with Distemper dogs:

I have a blog documenting my dog's struggle with Distemper and success with NDV:

I'm working on linking all these sites so that people looking for help can easily get in contact with all the help they can get as quickly as possible.

I hope you are able to get Daveyo's vet to treat your dog. Hang in there and stay strong.

Sincerely,

Pippit

Thank you Pippit for your infromation. My dog's condition is getting worst. She does not want to eat, show chewing gum fit, shows spasm. Start crying. She still want to walk and give good response. I can not open the website that you gave. www.treatment4distemper is no longer active. I am about to give up, and so sad if I have to put her sleep.

Hi Cendra,

Hang in there and don't give up.

That is Dr. Sears' website. I'm not sure why you can't open it. You can also try his direct e-mail at [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] and he can communicate with your vet if you ask him to and send him and you instructions. I've written him right now to let him know you need help fast.

Just in case I hear from him before you do could you leave me your e-mail address?

Also, contact Daveyo at the other site. He has a vet in Thailand who does this treatment.

I'm letting Ed Bond know about this too. There may also be something he can do.

Have you been able to print out the treatment instructions from Daveyo's site? They are on there as well as on Dr. Sears' site. You can fax them to your vet, e-mail them to him, or take them over there; whichever is easier.

Sincerely,

Pippit

Hi Cendra,

I have to get some sleep, as it's about 6:00 AM here, but keep trying to reach Dr. Sears at his e-mail address and print out the instructions and give them to your vet.

Here is a direct link to the body treatment which is to be done first. http://www.caninedistemper.proboards60.com/index.cgi?board=main2a&action=display&thread=3

It outlines the process for making the serum but your vet can also use pre-made Newcastle Disease Virus Vaccine; either LaSota strain (or B-1 strain), whichever is easiest to get.

Although earlier versions say that dogs showing neurological signs cannot be helped that is no longer true. Since then several have been treated successfully, (including my dog).

Here is the exact link to the treatment for the neurological symptoms from Daveyo's website:
http://www.caninedistemper.proboards60.com/index.cgi?board=main2a&action=display&thread=4

Let me know when you've got that done and keep me posted on whether your vet and Dr. Sears are in touch.

Daveyo's vet, Dr. Suthee's contact e-mail (in Thailand) is on that link to the neuro treatment near the bottom of that page.

Sincerely,

Pippit
