I had to put put one of our new little SPCA puppies to sleep last night after being diagnosed with distemper The puppies were not in the same kennel at the SPCA and had been kept in different crates at home for the few days Lily was here. They did walk on common ground at different times a a few times untill we suspected something was wrong with lily. I'm trying to find out how long Distemper virus lives and how I can disinfect and kill the virus on different surfaces in my house and car. I've bleached hard surfaces, but what about fabrics and carpet?

I have already replied. Please look at the other post you submitted. Since there is only one dog left alive, it is very much possible that dog got it too. DO THAT TEST TO CONFIRM POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE.

Don't wait. First chance you get call that vet, and if they cannot do the test FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN and do some phone calls and ask others who may know who can do the test for you.

If positive you have to find NDV. Newcastle's Disease Virus Vaccine. LaSorta Strain or any other strain that is available. It is usually found in any poultry agriculture store. Get the needed Vaccine based on the weight of the dog and get one extra in case you need it to do the CSF tap.
