distemperWe are thinking of adopting a dog from a rescue center. He is getting over distemper He's 4 years old, 94lbs and has been on antibiotics. We met him the other day and he is happy, running around and eating well. He has no eye/nose drainage, he does have an occasional cough but no other symptoms. My question is what future health issues could he have from this disease and what should we watch for if we bring him home?
Re: distemperHi Pigpen
First who said he had distemper and what is the history of this dog and its vaccinations etc. You best first find out. If the dog survived distemper it will have many secondary problems, and one of the main things you will need to get done is the NDV-CSF tap to stop the virus that is in the CNS and it will kill your dog if not treated. The sooner the better. Not sure where your are located but hopefully in USA and if so, yes there are VETS that will treat this condition and save the dog its life. If you want feel free to visit my site and check it out, go to caninedistempercure dot com and you can view it yourself. Without knowing all the other important details hard to say at the moment Daveyo
