Distemper survivor w/ tremorsMy daughter recently adopted a mixed breed (Bassett Hound/Catahoula) pup, maybe nine months old, from our local shelter. She was told he is a distemper survivor, but is in good health now. They did point out to her that he has tremors in his front and back legs on his left side due to the neurological after-effects of the distemper He is a very good-natured pup who has all of his permanent teeth in and he loves to chew. I say this because I have read that the virus can damage the baby teeth. He runs and plays energetically, is well-socialized, eats very well, and is heartworm negative. The tremors are almost not noticeable while he's standing, but occasionally, he seems to be restless and whiney while going to sleep, like the tremors are keeping him awake. Other times, he does fall into a deep sleep, but the feet continually pulsate. He seems to try and sleep on the side with the tremor--to try and control it, maybe? I am just wondering if he is indeed well now, whether the tremors could get worse or become debilitating, or whether he could possibly outgrow them. Thank you for any help you can give us.

Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsHi Martha
I am Daveyo. Yes, your dog and the tremors will progress and get worse over the course of time. You are in the early stages of ODE, and it will get worse leading to imminent death until you do the NDV CSF tap. Only then will this virus be killed and the progression stop. Your dog is now experiencing Old Dog Encephalitis which is very common to survivors. The progression is causing demyelination which is the myelin and Schwann cells are being destroyed sytematically by the deadly C4 T Cells caused by the virus. Giving this NDV will stop this problem and control the autoimmune system and create cytokines which also changes the C4 humoral to C4 25 humoral which the virus cannot survive. Also the cytokines is like taking the immune response of the dog and kicking it into hyper drive. Similar to Star Trek. The speed is phenominal. It will kill this virus quickly and not leave any stones unturned. After this the NDV will remain until the body catches up to it and when it does all the virus is gone and the deadly C4 T cells will abate and go into remission back under control. Now regarding the tremors if your dog gets the NDV, the tremors will revert to Chorea meaning the dog will survive and not die. They can live like this for life. Also dogs do have tremors while sleeping which is natural. Not a problem there, and you also do the very same when you sleep but you not know it since you're in deep sleep. The tremors normally stop while sleeping in some dogs and in others is continuous. Depends on the genetics of the dog and how much damage occurred. Understand. If you need more education and want more knowledge let me know. As of the virus in the body, if it did survive your dog should be by now immuned body wise but don't be too sure. This virus is extremely very well flexible and can adapt easily to any situation and even go dormant or stealth mode if such requires. A very deadly and very smart virus indeed. I would also do the body injection as well, and do this FIRST before the CSF-tap, to ensure you trap this virus and get it all killed. I do have a website at [moderator note: website address has been removed] Here you can find a wealth of information and the prescription to cure dogs of distemper both for the body and for the CSF tap, pics of this virus and disease and stories and testimonials of dogs saved courtesy of the owners. The CSF tap is based on dog size category. The body injection is based on weight. Right now your dog is not well healthy wise. Until you give that NDV cure for the body is 12-24 hours, and cure for the CNS (Central Nervous System) 24 hours. Then your dog is considered healthy about a month later after the body recovers from the extensive damage caused by the distemper virus. If you have any questions feel free to post here or at my site as given. I will try to help you all I can but the bottom line is you have to follow thru as instructed and do the leg work. The rest is entirely up to you. DO NOT VACCINATE A DOG WHEN IT IS SICK. HEED TO THIS WARNING. Daveyo.
Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsHi Shamir
Feel free to study up on the distemper at my site at [moderator note: website address has been removed] and in that site you will find a wealth of info which can help you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me there. Daveyo
Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsDear daveyo. I need info on this subject too. I just purchased a new puppy that presents a total body tremor all the time. I see her tremor in the head, body and back legs. She is five months old. The breeder has no idea why the dog trembles, and her vet suspects a reaction to the distemper vaccine. I have try to research canine congenital Chorea as a possibility, as my own daughter was born with this condition due to blood pressure reducing meds that I was on in the last weeks of pregnancy (They had me on morphine and the baby was born with tremors which I believe was directly related to the morphine withdrawal.) Anyway, I have not come up with anything on canine Chorea, so if you could shed some light on this for me in regards to whether this condition could be caused by vaccine reaction I would be forever grateful. The dog was purchased for the show ring, and I am currently giving her vitamin B complex supplements which I am hoping will help protect the mylar sheath nerve endings. I am hoping for a cure.
Kind regards Unice Kline
Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsHi,
I am also working on this initiative and would like to help hook you two up with the right help for your dogs. Since this site keeps on taking our links out I'll give you the info on where to get all the protocol information this way: Go to caninedistemperdotproboardsdotcom and also savedogsfromcaninedistemperdot blogspotdotcom/2009/02/what-you-need-to-knowdo.html and for some picture evidence that this treatment really does work, show your vet this photo album of my dog Carmella's paw pads healing within 2 weeks after treatment with NDV; http://www.indiepublic.com/photo/albums/946391:Album:541951 If you have any problem finding the above album look up Pippit Carlington on Indiepublicdotcom and then go to albums on the left side of my profile and you'll see the pictures. Click on each one to read the descriptions. You can contact me via Daveyo's site if necessary or Ed Bond's Facebook site. I have a thread on Daveyo's site on my dog Carmella. Please let me know if you got the information to print out and give your vet. The protocol instructions are on Daveyo's site and the one I listed below.
Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsTo answer your question about the tremors, yes it could be a congenital thing, but it's best to be sure what it is. Have your vet to a Brush Border Smear of the dog's bladder to confirm or rule out Distemper. If the dog is in the neurologic phase and body symptoms are no longer visible it may give you a false negative, so also have him do anibody tests as well, and look at any other possible clinical signs.
Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsOh, by the way, what breed is the dog? Some breeds have a tendancy to tremble such as Italian Greyhounds, especially when excited. I've seen toy and miniature poodles do that too. It may be normal if that's the only symptom, but still, have your vet do the tests.
Re: Distemper survivor w/ tremorsGreetings Unice Kline
I am in receipt of your message in regards to about Chorea. On some dogs it can be a congenital defect due to a different DNA splicing during the pregnancy phase. Chorea alone by itself is not fatal and most dogs can live with it. Sorry to read about your daughter, and I really questioned why they used morphine during your pregnancy which by the way is a no no. Hmmmmm. First off the breeder knows full well why that dog has the tremors. It is either one of the three, the pup became infected with Distemper prior to those shots or had the disease and then was given those shots, or the vaccine itself caused the Distemper. In either case the second one is worse than the first one. Why, OK, if the pup was sick with Distemper and you give a vaccine shot to a sick pup, having distemper what happens is it accelerates to full effect distemper virus in a rather short period of time. As a result of this disease being Distemper let me explain. Distemper virus attacks the myelin and schwaan cells and its primary purpose is to go after the central nervous system eventually even destroying the neuro pathways inside the brain which by this phase it is fatal. As the virus keeps attacking the myelin and schwaan cells, ahhh, let me explain it better for you.. Lets start with a wire say you cut a piece and have it in front of you. On the outside (the insulation) this is the myelin that covers the wires inside (which is the nerves). OK so far. The virus strips away this myelin (the insulation) and exposes the nerves wide open. The Schwaan cells is the house that makes the myelin which is located at various points along the nerve pathway. Myelin is sort of a fatty material. OK now once the nerve is exposed any signals that it receives coming from the brain which the signals known as the neurons come to an open space it jumps and goes into oblivion. Without that covering the person or animal loses the control to their motor functions because the neurons cannot complete the path that was specified from the brain. This is what causes Chorea, because now the nerves are bouncing all around the muscle part and hence the jerking or involuntary movements because of extensive nerve damage to the area. The Distemper virus caused this problem. Chorea along with Distemper if not treated will be fatal. There are some techniques that can fix the Chorea, but you must fix the cause and eliminate the cause which is Distemper virus. If the dog receives the cure injection to the body, the virus then is eliminated out of the body and the animal is cured completely in the body only. You still have the CNS which the virus is still present and it will eventually kill your dog unless you treat the CNS as well. If the NDV-CSF tap injection is performed then the virus is eliminated from the CNS (Central Nervous System) and then the repair of the damage can begin. What the NDV does is it stops the mess completely and also regains control of the auto immune system in restoring it back to normal, and turns off the switch of the deadly C4 T cells from destroying any more good cells and at the same token gets the T-cells to primarly attack the virus itself. The NDV also exposes the Distemper virus because it has a way of going stealth in effect hiding itself in a host cell to avoid detection and the virus is very much capable of changing its properties which includes the DNA and the genome sequence. What the NDV does is it creates a huge cytokine storm to the immune system, changes the C4 humoral cells very rapidly to C4 25 which now the Distemper virus cannot adjust. Also the NDV now exposes the virus out of its hiding and the Distemper Virus now will try to scramble to make a new adjustment to go back to stealth mode, but cannot do so because the humoral aspects were changed. At the same time the NDV now has taken over the auto immune system and in turn the auto immune system has sent out instructions to the T-cells to reverse itself and now instructs it to attack the Distemper virus that is exposed. The NDV creates a huge army itself which then overpowers the Distemper virus and completely destroys it between the 12th hour and the 24th hour. At the end of the 24th hour the virus is gone, and the reward of this is the dog is immuned for life with Titer readings of 1/1600. Normal readings is 1/20 to 1/40. Now the real best part is the discovery concerning the CNS. No one knew if it would work inside the CNS since it was considered no mans land. Well a simple experiment of over 40 years ago, told me a lot. Therefore I proceeded to get the CNS NDV-CSF tap done. It was successful. The CNS accepted the NDV with welcome opened arms and they had a perfect handshake thus absolutely no side effects were detected. Then to top it off, besides eliminating the virus, the NDV was able to stimulate the stems cells and assist it so it can repair the damage inside the CNS, and also effectively cancelled out the ODE effect thus allowing the animal to live a long and prosperous life. So when one gives the animal a chance to recover from the devastating effects of the Distemper Virus, a miracle happens right before your very own eyes. The recovery of the animal from that disease on a step by step basis. There is a outfit now in California that gives injections of stem cells to the lesion areas which speeds up the repair of the damage thus restoring the motor pathways to return back to normal. So with NDV yes, if the dog is treated it can recover and the twitching will go away gradually over time and it will be gone. Vitamins have nothing to do with the Disease itself as it has no effect. All it does is helps the red blood cells and its properties. NDV will not cross the blood brain barrier. That is why it is a two step process. First you must do the body and then do the CNS. For your information, these VETS have to be either very smart or very stupid. They all know full well that by giving a full vaccine shot to a dog they are indeed asking for trouble. Never give Distemper vaccine with Parvo vaccine at the same time. Parvo vaccine opens up the blood brain barrier and it remains open for about 12 days then it will close back up again. When you give such combo shot (Distemper and Parvo) you are asking the Distemper virus modified live cells to enter the CNS and this is the cause of Vaccine induced accelerated Distemper. Those two have to be kept apart when vaccinating any animal. Also a full shot is meant for a 60 pound dog or more. On small dogs you give only half shots or a quarter shots especially to toy dogs. Again keeping Distemper and Parvo separated. Then the animal will not have these problems. Example You give a half shot of Distemper and all the other vaccines minus the parvo you are doing just fine. After 14 days have passed then you give the parvo of half shot and wait another 14 days. After that then back to the Distemper and all the other vaccines minus the parvo you wait 14 days. Then back to parvo. The animal needs minimum from puppy size two full shots. The third shot comes at the booster 1 year later and then you can vaccinate your animal once every 3 years. The same applies to Rabies shots. The statement from Giftbearer concerning the neurologic phase is kinda off base. Even in the neurologic phase of the dog, yes it will have all the outside physical clinical signs of Distemper and it will remain so until the animal is dead or is treated with the NDV. After about 20 days it becomes harder to detect using the bladder smear. The best time to use the bladder smear test is the first 14 days from onset as after the 14th day, the physical clinical signs will appear thus confirming you of the disease. Once you see that, it is clinically proven and there is no need for a bladder smear test. An MRI scan of the spinal cord and the brain will detect if your dog has confirmed Distemper as the lesions will show up. This by itself is clinically proven and this confirms the Disease is present inside the CNS. The reason I tell you this because you said your pup is now 5 months old so when you got this pup it already was having the tremors so it is way past that particular stage now. I do advise that you get an MRI scan done ASAP so you can confirm if the dog has Distemper. If confirmed then you need to start the treatments ASAP by first doing the body injection, and then going to a specialist that I have at my site at caninedistemper dot proboards dot com and here you can find the list of those who are willing to take care of you and will do the treatments. As to your animal to be able to fully recover depends on it genetics and if you can get the treatments done soon enough before it sustains serious irreparable damage. If you have any questions feel free to ask me here or at my site and I will try my best to help you. I am well aware of this sites efforts to sabatage people seeking help and there is a legal recourse to stop this sabataging because it is totally unethical and wrong to deny one the right to obtain medical help whether or not it is in the books and it saves lives. My site does not kill dogs, as this one tries to profess their inept innocence in fear of the hounds. As of my site it is a legal and authentic cure therefore my site is dedicated to help others seek the medical help they need and I will do my best to save dogs as much as I can. Will await your response if you need any further help Daveyo
