We won’t give up …Shasta is our 4 month old GSD adopted from our local Humane Society. She was wonderful at the shelter, full of life. Then we brought her home and she has steadily gone down hill. She has been diganosed with Parvo, Kennel Cough and now Distemper She is being treated by our vet, antibodics and IV therapy. Find some NDV immediately both for the body and for the CSF tap. You need to have the VET do both at the same time. Body is 0.1cc for every pound or 2.2kg. If between add 0.1cc and find the blood vein of the dog on the front legs and inject direct. Cure in the body takes 12-48 hours. In your case probably 48 hours. On the CSF tap, the VET needs to do it in the Foramen Magnum. Dx is 0.2cc of NDV, 0.1cc of spinal fluid mixed, and 0.1cc of Saline to flush the needle hub. Also the VET needs to give anti-shock meds prior to procedure, and give anesthesia to keep the dog sleeping with IV flowing. Once the VET is done with this, wait until the dog wakes up and stands on its own. Then you can take it home and just pray that you did all this in time. If that dog lives after 48 hours you should see all the symptoms abate. Then treat for pneumonia same time of the tap for the next 7 days of Baytril of 0.5cc and penicillin G of 1.0cc mixed together twice a day intramuscular injection. After that the dog should be fully recovered. After this CSF tap procedure, the cure of the CSF is 36 hours. The dog will then live, but the neurological aspects is going to be a problem and the dog will need time to recover. I will be here if you do this immediately and have any questions to answer for you. Saved over 600 dogs. Daveyo
