Based only on the clinical prognosis, I would likely have opted to have our sweet 3-month old pup euthanized if I had a diagnosis of distemper Despite having had all of the clinical signs, outstanding vetrinarians persuaded us to try to save her. The poor baby suffered through the kennel cough, pneumonia, gi tract complications, depression, and refused to eat for almost a week. Your dog did not have Distemper based on your article here. Consider yourself lucky if what you say is true. Still I would do that bladder smear test just to be on the safe side. Distemper is very sneaky. If your dog is fully recovered get those shots now into that dog. If it runs a fever after the first vaccination shot within a few hours later, then you best get that test done pronto.
