Sick Puppy - Hepatitus/Distemper

Nearly a week ago, I took home an adorable terrier mix girl (Finn) - less than a year old. She was a bit lethargic but I thought it may be all the change around her. 3 days later she was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. Now released, she continues to be depressed and her appetite is sporadic. Yesterday, her left eye turned blue and I took her back to the vet. Now the diagnosis is potentially Hep or Dis. I’m so upset. Both these virus are incurable and I don’t know how she̵...Read the full article

Greetings;

Being upset is quite understandable. However you got some good news here and both diseases is curable!!!!!!!!!

First you need to do is get a very simple test done to confirm if Acute Distemper is present. Here it is and you can have your answer in 30 minutes if a vet or some medical person is able to do it for you.

The very best test for rapidly diagnosing ACUTE distemper is to do what is called a brush border smear of the cells of the inside lining of the bladder. These cells ALWAYS have inclusions. So, easy to collect, easy to stain (quick dip) and instantly diagnosed with inclusions in these cells which are carmine red and para nuclear.

Any medical person can tell you how to get cells from the bladder. Urinary catheter. Empty bladder flush with saline and collect some of the last saline. Spin down the saline and remove the cells. Place on slide and dry stain with diff-quick. Very common stain used by most medics or lab people who use medical microscopy. Everyone? I should hope so. Very fast, very cheap, very accurate for Dx of distemper. If present then Distemper. If negative then either kennel cough or respiratory Herpes or Toxoplasmosis.

So tackle this problem as your top priority and find out. If it comes back positive rule out hepatitis. This test is 100% accurate because the medical person will see the actual virus if present and not antibodies!!!!!

Let me know what you decide to do and if you get this done also let me know pronto
