Re: Save my dogDear Pinky,
I do not know where you reside, if you let me know your location, I could guide you on this, the other option could be to use Vi Pro Plus - a homeopathic medicine which comes for distemper with all the ingredients already mixed, this is generally available at most of the medical stores or you could also order it on online on their site. Re: Save my dogI found it on line and ordered it last night after I read your post. It will hopefully come today (2nd day air). I have been giving poke root - small amount - as it also boosts the immune system like echinicea.
Also some flower essences for strengh. My hopes are on the Vi Pro Plus as she is holding on but not any better at all. Thank you, Bonnie
Re: Save my dogHi Bani,
Well I'm happy to report that she is better. We d/c'd the poke root and have been giving the homeopathic combination you suggested. However we have just about run out and will have to go without for a day at least until the next shipment arrives. She still has fever - which I hope will end soon as we have been fasting her and are anxious to feed her again. We also have been giving Emergency C. The eye drainage has decreased dramatically and she is more alert. She is still very weak and does not have control of her limbs. So we wait and hope. Thank you so much, Bonnie
Re: Save my dogDear Bonnie,
I am really glad to know that your dog is recovering, I am sure she will pull thru very soon. To build her strength you could also give her raw beef, that will build her strength and make her drink a lot of water, which is very important that she has lots of water. I had done the same for my dog also. Good luck Bani
Re: Save my dogHi Bani,
Yes she loves to drink water. Today she still has fever of 103. We sent for the meds 2nd day air but it still seems to take 3 days to get to us out in the country. I am so anxious for it to come. When did you start to feed your dog? After the fever broke? Thanks, Bonnie
Re: Save my dogDear Bonnie,
Don't stop feeding her as you are draining her of all the energy she requires to fight this disease. My dog ate lots of chicken / meat / beef as he needed the energy to recover. Feed your dog anything she wants to eat or loves to eat but no chocolates as they can harm her. Even if she doesn't want to eat force feed her. Give her food supplements ( energy boosters ). My dogs fever broke in 10 days, but throughout I kept force feeding him and many times during the day I used to feed him. You can't starve her right now it'll just aggravate the problem. Good Luck Bani
Re: Save my dogHi Bani,
Well it has been a struggle for me and my family as we were following the instructions from Juliette De-Barclay Levi and Dr. Pitcairn who in their books both said that fasting when fever is present prevented encephelitis and further complications. So I have been feeding her only when fever is not present. We gave her vegetable broth and supplements and beef and chicken broth during fever. She has been without fever on and off for some days now and I have fed her raw meat and oatmeal, yogurt, greens, goat cheese and such. We again used all the homeopathic remedy and are awaiting more. She does not seem to be getting better, and she is still not able to walk. It breaks our hearts - she is such a sweetheart. I sleep by her on a pallet every night for support. Her hair is shedding excessively, and she looks so sad. It has been really tough. Do you have information on any animals with this disease who were able to regain use of limbs? Thanks again, Bonnie
