My dog’s survived from distemper

Post a new topicby livingwith on Tue Sep 09, 2008 12:48 pm

Hello, it’s me again jovann from the philippines, my last post here was February 2008 because that time my dog was diagnosed with distemper and her Vet told us that our dog will die two days after and there’s no medicine that can cure the disease.
Luckily on us, we didn’t stop hoping that one day she’ll survived this disease and now after how many month’s my dog is still alive. She’ll be turning one year this October and she grew very rapidly. What we gave on ...Read the full article

thats great to hear. My puppy of 3 months is currently in the hospital with distemper (2 weeks now) and I know its in God's hands, but its great to hear that your dog is doing well. I will pass your information over to my vet doctor. She is currently at the beginning stage of twitching (today was the first day). I will keep praying. thanks again for your letter!

Listen up

Did I just read here you say it is in Gods hands???? WRONG. It is in your hands. There is a full cure for this disease and you need to take action and go find yourself some NDV meaning NewCastles Disease Virus Vaccine. You will need to weigh that dog and the Dx is 0.1cc for every pound or 0.45 kg

If you are past the 6 day window from onset of this disease meaning when the fevers start you will need to get the NDV-CSF tap done by a qualified VET who can do a CSF tap to avoid oncoming ODE which is a virtual death sentence. This vaccine stops this and also kills the virus and restores the control of the deadly C4 T cells. If you are inside the 6 day window no need to do the CSF tap as the virus will not enter the CNS.

You are welcome to go to my site at [moderator note: website address has been removed] and register and then go to Canine Distemper. There you will find the full medical protocol of which you can copy and give to your VET to follow up on it. Do not change or alter this medical protocol as I know this disease so well that Dr. Sears and I came up with a full cure for this disease.

Once you have done this your dog will be cured in 24 hours for the body and also 24 hours for the CNS if the CSF tap is administered.

You also have to treat for pneumonia as Distemper always brings on pneumonia. Treatment is for 7 days twice a day with Baytril and Penicillin G every 12 hours. The Dx is 0.5cc of Baytril mixed with Pen G of 1.0cc together given intramuscularly at the rear thighs.

hi, my puppy is also suspected of having a post canine distemper. I'm interested in knowing what kind of anti-seizure drug did you give your dog. We will be bringing back the puppy to the vet tom. Thanks :)

Phenobarbital is what you give to the dog. 8.125mg roughly every 24 hours. But for the first week do twice a day 12 hours apart. After that 24 hours and then spread it apart to around every 36 once the pheno begins to take effect. Monitor this very carefully as pheno is habitual forming. Observe and make sure you avoid withdrawal symptoms. You can do this for a 6 month stretch and then switch to another brand and do that for 6 months. Basically only two drugs are known to work best. It may be for the life of the dog or until it recovers. Depends on the damage.

Hi Jovann,
I'm also in the Philippines (an American) living in Southern Palawan, in a remote location far from internet and all other modern conveniences. I'm almost 6 hours from the only vet on the island. My dog is 18 months old.

I was in the US during July and August when a friend texted me that the dog was sick with what she said was trangkaso and sipon. He had discharge from his nose, fever, no apetite and losing weight. We knew that he had been licking the wound of his girlfriend. It was a neck wound from a rope imbedded into the dogs neck. My friend told me that the other dog (with neck wound) was very week and the wound smelled bad.

I assumed that my dog had probably gotten an infection from licking the wound and my friend began giving the dog antibiotics and I was told that the dog recovered.

When I returned at the beginning of September, I noticed a "twitch" that was rhythmic. I thought at first he was gasping for breath and the twitches were timed with his breathing. I thought he must have pneumonia and gave him antibiotics again. He is lethargic but with good appetite. He gained his weight back. He eats and lays around acting depressed. He doesn't play with the other neighborhood dogs anymore and is grouchy with them.

I noticed that he sneezes but doesn't seem to have a fever as far as I can tell.
He is a tick magnet. I use frontline flea and tick but it doesn't help with the ticks. I was wondering if he was anemic from so many ticks. They are everywhere on him.

Still I didn't understand the twitches and his opening and closing his mouth all of the time. I thought that only puppies get distemper but now as I'm reading it sounds like he has distemper.

Again, no access to a veterinarian and but have recently been told that there is one in the capital city. Regardless, I have no way to get him there. I only have access to basic medicines. I had to travel 8 hours last year to buy just an old fashioned thermometer.

Anyone with any suggestions. Sorry to be longwinded.
Thanks.

First get that dog inside and get those ticks off of him. Use a magnifying glass and a good strong flashlight, and check every area on the dog's body, inside the paws and inside the ears and get those female ticks which will be big ones off of the dog and place on a towel and cover it and smash it till you hear a pop. The same and do the males as well.

Once you get all the ticks off of your dog, then wash your dog and clean it. Wait 2 days and then use a front line spray and coat the dogs hair really good. Don't get it to the mouth or in the eyes and every place else will be fine. Do not wipe the dog and let it dry. Keep that dog inside the house. This spray will be good for a month so don't wash your dog. After this buy the frontline standard application and get one bigger than the size they specify to ensure good protection.

Inside your house inspect the walls and the floors and your furniture and on your bed. Ticks do like to travel all over. Since you have a lot of ticks, it will take a good month to get rid of them. Also ticks do not like alcohol and bleach. Bleach will kill the ticks on the floors.

Let me know how your progressing on this issue.

Daveyo.
