Hi I am Daveyo

Get your dog over to a VET ASAP. Don't waste any time. Secondly have the VET do a Parvo check from the Elisia Test Kits. You should get that answer inside 10 minutes. Then also do the Brush border smear test right then and there. If that VET does not know how to do it, here it is>

The very best test for rapidly diagnosing ACUTE distemper is to do what is called a brush border smear of the cells of the inside lining of the bladder. These cells ALWAYS have inclusions. So, easy to collect, easy to stain (quick dip) and instantly diagnosed with inclusions in these cells which are carmine red and para nuclear.

Any medical person can tell you how to get cells from the bladder. Urinary catheter. Empty bladder flush with saline and collect some of the last saline. Spin down the saline and remove the cells. Place on slide and dry stain with diff-quick. Very common stain used by most medics or lab people who use medical microscopy. Everyone? I should hope so. Very fast, very cheap, very accurate for Dx of distemper. If present then Distemper If negative then either kennel cough or respiratory Herpes or Toxoplasmosis.

If confirmed Distemper, then Get the NDV at the nearest agriculture Poultry store. Use the phone book to find it OK. Weigh the dog and here is the formula > 0.1cc for every pound or 2.2kg and injected to the blood vein of the dog. Once you do this the cure is about 24 hours.

In meantime check the pads on the dog and check the eyes and the nose. Also check your dog for any breathing problems. Have the dog stand up on 4 legs, and tap quickly 2 times a bit hard on the side of the rib cage chest. If your dog coughs after that tap it has Pneumonia. Canine Distemper does bring on Pneumonia. Dx is 0.5cc of Baytril and 1.0cc of Penicillin G broad spectrum twice a day intramuscular, for 7 days.

Now if the dog has confirmed distemper you need to check the other extremities as mentioned above. If you see any of those signs, your dog is well beyond the 6 day window and I would guess your around the 20 day mark give or take. If so you need to do the CSF tap same time as the body injection. I have on here under Canine Distemper Peer to Peer titled For Cases of Confirmed Canine Distemper (revised post) the medical protocol for the CSF tap. The vet needs 1.0cc of Saline, 1 NDV vial with the sterile solution and in that syringe of 0.2cc of NDV, Anti-shock meds, I.V., 2 syringes, 1 cather, anesthesia, and 1 empty sterile vial to take the spare spinal fluid and have it tested out for any Distemper antibodies. Cure in the CNS spinal and neuro area is 24 hours. The operation is done at the Foramen Magnum the bottom base part of the skull in the back.

Post here if you have any problems

how old is your dog and has it had any vaccine shots????

Hi Daveyo,
I am from Romania (Eastern Europe) and I have a puppy (3 months old) with distemper He is treated for about 2 weeks with Canglob (hyperimun serum) and sustaining treatment but with no visible result except holding down the disease. I read your posts and I wish to try your cure but how can I trust you when nobody confirmed the results even if you posted about the cure about 6 months ago and still. Also you don't know to convert weight measuring units and keep posting 1 pound = 2,2 Kg which is WRONG.
1 pound = 0,4536 kg (1 kg = 2,2 pounds so you know something but upside down). I doubt worldwide VETS don't use go0gle, didn't found this information your spreading and not wanting to try even if I know a lot of Vets willing to try everything to save the little animals. As example in my case the vets are treating my dog for free. The medication is also donated therefore they aren't trying to rob me for money or to sell me expensive drugs.
I can't wait to hear some answers from you and if you want to talk about more you can write on my email adress [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]
Sorry for my bad english.

Send another e-mail and identify the topic saying Canine Distemper will watch for it.
