Canine Aggression

Hello all:

My 1 year old lab\dane mix is a fearful thing. I took this pup from an on line give my dog a good home add on Craiglist. She was very fearful at first the made slow progress towards adapting to her new home. I made trips to the Vet for shots and a spay. However even after a couple months, she remains fearful of us at times. I have read a great deal of patience is required with fearful dogs and have joined this forum in order the receive tips and advice. I have read triggers are involved with this type of behavior, but I am unskilled and inexperienced with this type of behavior. I have not nor do I want to medicate or go to the expense of a behaviorist, so any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks.
