OLDER DOG RECENTLY STARTED AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIORI have two chocolate labs, brothers from different litters. They have great breeding, are well trained etc, but recently the oldest, who is almost seven, has started growling and bearing his teeth at me, his brother, even my husband who did a wonderful job establishing dominance from the begining. I have been doing research and trying to figure out how to deal with this. We have two small children, who love the dogs, but aren't great with bounderies (love to give sleeping dogs big hugs and kisses) We're working on the kids ;) I am wondering if this could be due to aging or some ailments and have made an appointment with a vet, but I have never heard of this happening so late in a dogs life. Of course we are taking precautions i.e. never leaving kids and dogs alone, kenneling at night or when ever bad behavior occurs. Any suggestions? I'm afraid I might have to give up one of my dogs if this behavior continues, or getsany worse, but I can't risk it with kids in t he house.
