strain of calicidoes anyone know if calicivirus can exist when there is NO uri or lameness? The vets here are telling me i have calici here with my clowder, although i have no upper resp. distress showing on any of the cats. only symptoms, vomiting, mouth ulcers and some cats have diarrhea. i also have completely healthy cats here as well and not one cat is showing signs of extreme illness. they are active, playful drinking and eating although food doesn't stay down for some of them.
Re: strain of caliciThe feral cat that I trapped in June had only the runny eyes and ulcers in her mouth. She tested positive for the calci virus. I think the stress she went under having a litter of kittens (that died), being trapped and taken to the vet to be spayed then weeks later undergoing a dental cleaning and teeth extraction brought out a bout of it, not to mention the vaccination she received for the disease. Her eyes still water a little at times but she has gotten fat, has become less shy, runs around and plays with toys, etc. She has no vomiting, no diarrhea and no lameness. You wouldn't even know she was a carrier of the virus.
