Questions about the American Mastiff

Post a new topicby JohnnieinMI on Thu Oct 23, 2008 1:37 pm

Hi Everyone!

I know the American Mastiff (AM) is a relatively new breed of mastiff. The AM is a cross breed of an English Mastiff and an Anatolian Sheppard. According to the breeders, the AM is said to drool less than the English Mastiff and without all the health deficiencies that are associated with the English Mastiff. In your experience, what health issues have risen in the past years that either validated this claim or refute it? Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,
John

Hi John

Interesting question. Since it is relatively a new breed set up, not much data about them exists that I know of. Perhaps ask more breeders who do such and know of such. It takes about a average of say 10-15 years to get enough data health wise concerning such dog. Not much help huh, but this is the best I can tell you for the time being.

So if anyone else knows about this kind of dog, do pitch in and let this gentleman know.

Good luck John
