my children are dying.please help!

Post a new topicby rosalin on Tue Feb 19, 2008 6:47 am

my female doggy gave birth 5 puppies. They were in good conidition with health.Suddenly they all are getting sick. One of them even died of blooding through anal sac.One of them survived from this kind of problem.me and my husband took them to vet.We thought they were suffering from canine distemper.our vet said they are not suffering from this. But my guess is more like that. Now the problem is after the death of one child rest of the children showing some physical problem - allergie, vomiting.I am scared they have been attacked of cdv though they are not shown any extreme physical symptom as I heard some time canine distemper does not always appear in extreme symptoms. So now how will I be sure that rest of children are out of danger! please help me to know how can i bring them out of danger.will any vaccine work for it? they are all our babies.I cant see them any more like this.I cant see any other death of them.Because I m getting sick seeing them like this.please save my children. My heart is going down.My husband is in tears in possibility of loosing them.please help.Show me some way!

My heart goes out to you, I don't think you should be seeking help here but you should go to a vet
or emergency clinic to try to save these babies. Don't wait for answers here, what does the vet say?

Dear nancy,
Really thanks for your reply. My vet is not helping us the way we want.he says they are not suffering from cdv.But already one of my children is loosing weight, eat a very little.I am really scared.I just need to know if they already caught cdv and now if i give them cdv vaccine will it harm them?I keep them always under care and they are always infront of my eyes.

Hi rosalin,
Please ask your vet for something to bring back the babies' appetites. There is a medication
that will make them start eating right away. I really don't have any answers to the problem
but your vet should be your source of help, if your vet is not helping, please get your babies
to another vet. In the meantime, please get them on the appetitite enhancers, from the vet.
Good Luck and please work quickly, Nancy

There could be many causes for this litter having trouble, was mommy dog wormed prior to breeding, puppies can be infected invitro if mom has/had worms, was mommy dog fully vaccinated?....milk from mom could be another issue..did mommy dog eat the placentas from the pups..this caused a problem with a litter I whelped years ago..everything mom eats goes to the milk supply & in turn ingested by the nursing pups..mom & pups should be seen by vet...were stool samples checked ? What did the 1st vet say the problem could be, what tests if any were done on pups & mom? If the pups are having bloody BM's they need to be seen by a vet ASAP vomiting & Bloody Bm is a serious symptom was mom vaccinated for Parvo?., Mom should also be examined. Get this litter to a vet

What is happening is your puppies are dying known as Fading Puppy syndrome. The female who had the births is not the cause of this problem. It is coming from the male dog. However probably by now they are all dead.

Usually this happens to the first litter when infected with Fading Puppy syndrome. There is a cure for this disease which saves all the puppies and you need is the serum.

Next time you have this problem please contact Dr. Sears of Sears Vet Hospital in Lancaster California. You can also get ahold of me under Distemper here in peer to peer. If you need help I will do my best.

There is a cure for Canine Distemper Fading Puppy Syndrome, Respiratory Herpes, Kennel Cough and a few others as well.
