Brutus, my 8 yr old Brittany is at the emergency hospital. Yesterday he got all his vaccinations in the am. By mid afternoon he wasn’t quite right - a little slow. Spoke to the emergency clinic and since he was eating, drinking, peeing & pooping they thought he might just be sore.
This am he could hardly walk. He was going sideways and falling down. It was awful to watch. I took his temp 104.4 so I rushed him off to the vets.
No clue what is going on. Got...Read the full article

unexplained death of Brutus
Re: unexplained death of BrutusI have a 2 year old Shih Tzu. Last month I took her for her vaccinations. (No previous health history problems except possible allergy. She would scratch and bite her skin. The vet claimed it was an allergy.) 2 weeks after the vaccination my pet started acting weak and tired. Laying around all the time. Her eyes have began to water and have an infected secretion. 4 weeks after the vaccinations she began to experience the same symptoms your dog did. She began with a nervous type shake. We watched her knowing she was getting sick but had no idea what was to come. She stopped eating anything (My dog would turn down NOTHING!! to eat!) She began to loose coordination and was not able to stand on her hind feet. She would fall and show weakness in her hind legs. We took her to the vet. She had a slight temp of 103.4. All other lab work was normal. WBC, electrolytes, minerals, lymphatics etc. The vet found NOTHING! All he could say was let's watch her. He could tell that she was getting sick but everything looks normal so we will have to wait and see what transpired. We brought her home. She was still weak. Falling when she would try to stand, not wanting to stand or come to us for anything. The very next day at 3:30 she experienced her first seizure. (Head flailing, mouth and tongue flapping, drooling and foaming.) Then nothing. Just tired and laying around. By 5:30 she began to experience multiple seizures. (Still cannot use her hind legs or to weak to stand when she did try.) We had her back at the vet by 6:00 pm. Fever was 103.8. Seizures still going on. No hind leg muscle coordination, lots of apathy and weakness. The vet has put her on an I.V. and is watching her overnight. He is running tests and we will find out tomorrow if he has found anything. Please post your results if you find them out. I will let you know what my end results are.
