Can vaccines be fatal

Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed Oct 17, 2007 12:30 pm

We lost our dog Meeka on Oct 6, we had her for 10 1/2 years. On Sept 28 she received vaccinations including rabies borditela and distemper Within 2 days of receiving the shots she had a spiked fever, diareah, vomiting, she wouldn’t eat, and she could hardly walk, when she did walk she was off balance. These symptims got progressively worse each day. We did bring her back to the vet mid week, they wanted to run a whole bunch of tests, non of which had anything to do with distemper T...Read the full article

Hi I am Daveyo

I will answer your question. The answer is yes there is a test. It is called a titer test to see the levels of the antibodies on the animal.

I assume you have been vaccinating every year. Bad news on that part. Your dog probably was over vaccinated by this means. Vaccines can kill.

You only need to vaccinate a dog once every 3 years.

Secondly NEVER GIVE DISTEMPER AND PARVO VACCINES TOGETHER. A very dangerous lethal mix. Most VETS should know this but vaccines is their money in the bank income.

Also Distemper should be of killed version and Parvo of killed version. When you give the Distemper you must wait minimum of 21 days before giving Parvo to avoid serious problems.

What your dog had was a condition called accelerated Distemper. Meaning once the vaccine was in the system it triggered full blown distemper. Your VET is way off on that diagnosis.

I now recommend to all owners to at least have NDV in their possession based on the weight of the dog Have one set available for the pup to 2 year old stage and then if you need more you can have the rest for adulthood. 1 vial will hold up to a 30 pound dog OK. NDV can save dogs in most cases depending on the strain of Distemper virus. The cure is in 24 hours. The other extra vial is for the CSF tap. Distemper's primary target is the central nervous system. NDV is the only vaccine that can stop this virus inside the CNS.

In your case right from onset you could have saved your dog if you gave that NDV body injection right away and also gave a CSF tap as well. Then your dog would have been OK and been immuned for life meaning no more distemper shots period.

I myself have NDV here with me as my main primary backup for such emergency. If any of my dogs experience such I can give the NDV immediately to stop its progression. NDV is the only known cure at the present time. Keeping it cold and in good condition it will last in the fridge for 5 years. After that get another set and your in business for another 5 years as your primary backup. NDV will also cure dogs of other diseases if all else fails by the way. Most important to make sure you have NDV by the time any dog reaches the 10-12 year mark. It might come in handy if they react to vaccines at this time and age period.

Older dogs are most vulnerable to vaccines because of all the vaccinations people have been giving to these animals. By following the protocol every 3 years is fine and very safe and effective. Same for Rabies. When they reach the 10-12 year mark best do a titer check first to see what the status is. Then give only vaccines that is needed. Do a titer check every year or every 2 years thereafter. Give only vaccines on as a needed basis only. This way your dog will live a long time.

For me my protocol is this. Every 3 years. When they reach age 12 years (which shots are due again) I do a titer check. Then if appropriate I will give the last and final 3 year shot, and then only the shots required to keep their immunity up from the titer check from year 15 on up. I do this every year thereafter. This way they are in good condition.

Many VETS will not tell you this because this kills off their main income of giving vaccine shots. They make a lot of money telling owners to vaccinate yearly. What they won't tell you is also that these vaccines can kill and over vaccinate dogs. Every wonder why they keep their mouths shut and look stupid when a crisis comes up??????? The real reason is they don't want to be sued over the issue.
